"We've tried numerous thermals and all of them have suffered the same fate -- over time, due to wrestling them on and off, often in cramped settings, they all lose their shape and get stretched and loose and in turn lose some of the thermal efficiency. The Odlo Sports Underwear Crew is tougher and feels warmer than many of its competitors and its tight weave as well as providing a little extra wind resistance, also helps maintain its shape over time. [...] as sleepwear, from August summer nights to freezing February winters, when the hard graft is done, the Sports Underwear Crew has proven a durable and extremely comfortable top to wear in and around the tent, making it our current top pick in the Outdoor Sleepwear category."

With an excellent warmth to weight ratio, this is a reasonably close fitting thermal top with some stretch, sensible fitted cuffs and a dropped back to ensure good overall coverage. The Odlo® Warm Originals™ range incorporate silver ions in their Effect™ fabric treatment - silver's antibacterial properties help keep unpleasant odours at bay.
Unlike the standard Warm Originals baselayer, this top features a tighter weave on the arms and front, providing additional wind resistance and consequently warmth. The tighter weave also maintains the top's fitted shape even when strained (particularly useful when the top is used as thermal sleepwear in the confined spaces of solo tents or hooped bivvies).
The Sports Underwear Crew feels soft and cosy; the brushed inner helps wicks moisture away from the skin to ensure you remain dry, and the flatlock seams and panelled construction make this an extremely comfortable thermal top.
All in all this is a lightweight, durable and snug outdoor baselayer. Extremely warm for its weight, it really comes into its own when used as trekking sleepwear.
Odlo's reported sizing is pretty accurate. For a better idea, see Scramble's review images (their editor is wearing a size large and has a 42" chest).
