Firstly, if you're not familiar with Tyvek, or if you are but are confused as to which type you need, there's an excellent article called "The Thru-Hiker’s Guide to Tyvek" which covers everything you're going to need to know.
Scramble have been using Tyvek Hardstructure in their ad-hoc inflatable mat protectors for years and are currently developing a more lightweight product that uses Tyvek HS 1057D in conjunction with Porcher Industries' ultralight SkyTex fabric. Consequently they've got a good supply and can offer it here at a very competitive price.
One of the properties of Tyvek HS is that it can be flexed and folded almost indefinitely, and so Scramble have made it available in two folded packs (of continuous lengths): 2 meters or 4 meters (both being 130cm wide). There's no price reduction for buying the larger quantity, as above 2 meters we have to box it which incurs greater shipping costs (for us, not for you).
Well, firstly it's not Tyvek Softstructure (which is used for wearable products due to it being more breathable, malleable, lighter, less noisy, and softer BUT significantly less resistant to tearing, puncture, and water).
Tyvek HS is made of pure polyethylene fibres randomly laid out and then heat-treated and compressed to form a remarkably tough substrate that is ideal for applications where durability is of prime importance. It's waterproof (yet vapour permeable) and resistant to: abrasion, puncture, tear, flex and folding. 1057D combines the performance of paper, film and fabric and can be used in a wide variety of applications.
