When GPN Meda we were testing mini ball heads for the Scrambler ultralight modular tripod the three stand-outs were Highlights' S2Q (versions 1 & 2), Innorel's B19 and the Andoer's MT-04.
For those that may find the Highlights S2Q too small GPN wanted to offer something chunkier. One of the two stand-outs in the mini-mid-weight class was Andoer's (near-classic) MT-04 Ball Head.
Like the Innorel, the MT-04 is a superbly machined, durable and reliable ball head with a secure lock and a 3kg max load. The locking screw knob simultaneously locks the ball and panning base. What sets the Andoer apart is that it features a heavily knurled screw knob and Scramble found during testing that this was one of the best when operating with gloves. The MT-04 has a native 1/4"-20 female screw thread at its base and weighs 64g.
For a little more background on the MT-04 and why GPN chose it for their Scrambler Tripod, see their post on Studio.
