Feichao 1/4" Female to 3/8" Female Tripod Screw Adapter (Silver)

Feichao's Lightweight 1/4" Female to 3/8" Female Adapter

This is a pretty standard adapter which GPN Media wanted to stock as a possible alternative to the double knurled locking nut that they recommend for their Leg #4 component (part of their Scrambler UL Modular Tripod).  The female 3/8" thread on this adapter is compatible with the Feichao cold shoe plate and mount and so this component can be used as a lock with the 1/4"-20 female housing the spike. This saves a few grams and because this component is around 3cm long, one of these is almost the same length as two of the knurled nut adapters. 

The only issue, if you go this route, is that you need to use some kind of grip tape around its central indentation as unscrewing this in the field can be tricky due to its smooth exterior.

All unorthodoxies aside, this component has a wide range of applications which is why GPN Media offer each of their tripod components individually.
