With a breaking strength of 15kN (~1530 kg) and weighing 34g per meter, Edelrid's 16mm X-Tube is a super high-strength, smooth and very abrasion and tear-resistant tubular webbing with a flat (3mm) profile. Traditionally used by climbers, mountaineers and canyoners for slings and anchors, X-Tube has many other uses for MYOG projects.
Scramble use the 16mm X-Tube as clip-on bridging carry straps connected to daisy chain webbing on packs (to hold gear in place and as removable grab handles). A loop of 1.5 or 2mm cord can be threaded through the tubular webbing and connected to small carabiners, so you can clip on a handle when required. The X-Tube is very comfortable and prevents strong thin cord cutting into the hand (X-Tube makes excellent handles).
GP-Net Media considered using X-Tube as covers for flexible aluminium legs for their outdoor tripod. Beyond climbing, there are myriad uses for this highly abrasion resistant and insanely strong webbing.
