These quick release straps are basically cheaper and slightly less refined versions of the Sea To Summit Accessory strap. They use a durable and lightweight 10mm polypropylene webbing but instead of an aluminium buckle, these employ 3CR15 stainless steel which has a light plastic coating. The buckle design is the same as Sea To Summit's and in terms of function and performance the two straps are very similar.
The buckles are easy to adjust and have a quick release hook so you can get to your gear fast. They can be used for lashing gear to your pack, kayak, raft, bike or roof rack, or simply keep them in your pack for an emergency.
Scramble use them as UL belts on their (currently in development) waterproof shorts. They're inexpensive yet perfectly capable and being 2m long and cheap as chips one doesn't feel too bad cutting them exactly to size, sealing the end with a flame and then tying them off with a simple overhand knot. For a belt that weighs ~14g and costs £2.
Obviously these have multiple uses, and if you don't need an aluminium buckle and can handle the slightly rustic bartacking, then these make a fine alternative to the more pricey Sea To Summit and Exped versions.
