Scramble's Tyvek HS Sleeping Mat Protector has 3 main functions: 1) to protect inflatable sleeping mats, 2) as a tent / bivi footprint (where the sleeping mat can be slid under the bivi so the TSMP protects the mat(s) and the floor of the bivi / tent where the user's body-weight is concentrated and 3) as a changing / sit mat.

The Tyvek HS Sleeping Mat Protector (TSMP) is made from Tyvek Hardstructure 1057D, Dupont Tyvek Tape, PSP Marine Spinnaker Tape and EcoPak XPX200. It comes in two lengths: Short (for 2/3 length mats up to 140cm long) and Regular (for full length mats up to 190cm long). Currently, only the short version is available and only to notified customers that have requested them from Scramble (if you're interested contact Scramble directly via their contact form in the footer of their website pages).
The short TSMP uses nearly 5m of spinnaker tape (more than a standard roll), close to 4m of Dupont's Tyvek Tape and over a meter of foam tape (at the "mouth" opening). Even though Tyvek is very durable, the primary reason for all this tape is to ensure there are no vulnerable edges that could initiate a tear; it also allows Scramble to apply a stitch without creating weakness (see pic #3 above) and to insert lightweight Ecopak XPX200 "docking points" into which Scramble attach cord loops (see pic #2 below, circled in green) so the TSMP can be pegged down when used on sloping ground. Scramble have found just two pegs are required, depending on the slope - either at each side, or at the top and on the higher of the two sides on the slope). For early customers, two complimentary nail pegs are included.
The short version weighs 160g (+10g for the mesh stuff sack that comes with it). When packed, it measures 13 (L) x 8cm (W) x 6 (D) cm. Scramble have managed to stuff the TSMP with two self-inflating mats (25mm + 38mm thick) plus an Exped FlexMat XS (18mm thick), making its max capacity for a 50cm wide mat 8cm deep, 140cm long. Obviously, the thinner the mat(s) the more width available. So, a Sea To Summit XS Ultralight Insulated Sleeping Mat at 128 x 55 cm and 5cm thick will just about fit.
The TSMP has three main roles:
The TSMP's simple "pillow case" design allows the user to mix and match different mats that remain held together in a cohesive package. Scramble have been using many prior iterations in the long prototyping phase and since using Tyvek HS as the core protective layer, have never had a punctured sleeping mat.
Scramble's Tyvek Sleeping Mat Protectors (TSMP S145 and R195) come with a 3 year warranty should they fail and that failure is Scramble's fault (i.e. due to manufacture / workmanship). Depending on the nature of the problem Scramble offer a simple repair, replace or refund policy.
If the failure is the fault of the customer (including issues arising outside the scope of "anticipated use") Scramble will provide support and advice on how best to remedy the issue.
Note: Tyvek Hardstructure 1057D is very puncture resistant, water resistant, durable and almost impervious to folding and re-folding. That said, it is not puncture PROOF; it may not withstand a very sharp rock shard under direct downward pressure for example. Scramble assume the user will do all they can to avoid very strong, sharp, nail-like objects that would fall outside the scope of "anticipated use".
Washing Instructions
Do NOT machine wash. The TSMP will last much longer if it never sees the inside of a washing machine.
If you feel the need to clean the TSMP, simply wipe down the Tyvek surfaces with a damp sponge with cool or lukewarm water (no need for soap).
Leave it somewhere to hang and dry naturally (it will dry very quickly even indoors). Do NOT tumble dry or dry next to a heat source !!!
Home storage
Simply make sure the TSMP is dry before long term storage. Obvious, but hey.
