The Fjellrapp is part of the Bergans' lightweight series, probably their most versatile series of woolen garments, made from 100% Merino wool and developed for a wide range of activities. Much of what Scramble said about the Akeleie half zip applies to the Fjellrapp:
"There's nothing revolutionary about [this top] they've just got everything right; everything is manufactured to a very high standard. The Fjellrapp is a superbly designed, functionally styled, winter baselayer. A second skin that keeps you warm when you're wet, dries rapidly, and is luxuriously comfortable."
The Fjellrapp is suitable for stand-alone use, as a baselayer right next to the skin, or as a midlayer on top of a light skin-tight baselayer in extreme conditions. Furthermore, if you're counting grams and need a spare baselayer for your pack, the Fjellrapp, not having a zip or high collar, comes in at 38g lighter than the Akeleie Half Zip.
Scramble stock this item as an alternative to their top ranked cold weather baselayer (the excellent Bergans of Norway's Akeleie Half Zip) for those that prefer a) a crew neck design, and b) a 100% Merino baselayer.
In Scramble's view, Bergans of Norway make the finest cold weather baselayers on the market today, and they've tested an enormous range of competing products from Icebreaker, Odlo, Helly Hansen, Rab, Smartwool, Rewoolution and on and on. It would appear that the Norwegians know a thing or two about cold weather (who'd have guessed!).
Merino wool is a high-quality natural fibre with numerous benefits:

Sizing / Measuring
Bergans sizing is pretty accurate. This kind of baselayer will work best as a reasonably fitted item, so if you're on the margins we recommend sizing down. The fit of the Fjellrapp is very similar to the Akeleie which you can see being "modelled" by Scramble's editor in their review of the Akeleie. Scramble's editor has a 42" chest and is 5ft 8" tall.
