Clamcleat's Alloy Y pegs are the best all-round tent pegs Scramble have tested in terms of function, durability, weight and value. The Alloy Y pegs are very similar to the well known MSR Ground Hogs and Hilleberg's Y pegs; they perform just as well but cost a lot less.
Suitable for most types of ground (between the very hard and soft extremes), they're robust (Scramble have yet to have one deform or buckle), hold well and offer good penetration. These pegs work well as the mainstay around which other lighter and heavier duty pegs can combine to suit conditions.
For those that want to go a little lighter, Scramble offer a comparable but slightly lighter option. The Scramble 18 Alloy Y pegs are practically identical to the Clamcleats version, but 1cm shorter and 2g lighter. They're made from 7075 grade aluminium alloy (which is one of the strongest commercial grades available). These have now replaced the Clamcleat versions as Scramble's default standard all-round peg.
Note 1: see the "group" picture for the most accurate colour rendition.
Note 2: the new cord on these pegs has been upgraded and is a little more red and less orange than pictured.
Both Scramble's and Clamcleat's offer superb performance at a price that should shame most of the serious competition. These Alloy Y pegs are one of five tent pegs Scramble recommend, see their tent peg review for more info.
A really strong aluminium alloy tent peg. The Y section gives great rigidity and strength, while keeping the weight down [...] The bright blue anodising and red lanyard gives high visibility in grass. Ideal for hard, rocky and sun baked ground. [...] We did a lot of testing before choosing this design, to make sure we have the best combination of weight, strength, stiffness, visibility and good value.
Scramble have an arrangement with Clamcleats to sell their products on a unit basis. These pegs are normally only available in packs of 6. As buyers themselves, Scramble are aware that most people know exactly how many pegs they need, so they sell them here individually (for less than Clamcleat's 6-pack unit price) and our delivery charges are much lower than Clamcleat's. (note: all tent pegs sold on SYSTEM are available on a unit basis).
